Swellendam Municipality appreciates Services SETA.

The Swellendam Municipality in the Western Cape acknowledges Services SETA for their unwavering support and professionalism in funding their generic management short course. The NQF level 5 short course, aims to improve the skills of unemployed matriculants from towns within the municipality.

Swellendam’s Human Resource Manager, Peter Le Roux stated that they have worked with multiple SETA’s over time. However, the Services SETA stands out and has proved itself to be the most efficient and professional organisation. “Our experience with the Services SETA has been positive, their funding application process was a highly formal and professional process.”

He further explained the procedure of applying for funding, indicating that the Municipality saw on the Services SETA website that they were accepting applications for discretionary grants. They followed the procedure which was very detailing and specific about the requirements to complete the application. They were fortunate to be nominated for the funding and they began with the program immediately, without encountering any confusion or delays in financial transfers, Peter added.

The generic management course kicked off in October 2022 with 20 learners. However, 5 dropped out. The theory of the course ran between October 2022 and January 2023. The practical in service (WIL) followed between February and October 2023. Peter said that throughout the practical period, learners were assigned to municipal stations and each received a stipend of R2000 per month.

The Municipality expressed gratitude and optimism that their working relationship with Services SETA will continue. Peter further elaborates “The financial assistance from Services SETA made our program easier and seamless. We received the funds on schedule, and the financial aid allowed the students to be accommodated for the duration of the entire course. We are very thankful for the loyalty,” Peter said.
